Formula
Volumetric mass = shipment volume in the divisor's volume unit ÷ divisorThe dimensional factor depends on the carrier, service, route or agreement. Use the divisor specified for the shipment you are preparing.
Use shared shipment volume and an explicit divisor for a carrier-neutral estimate.
METHODOLOGY
Dimensional or volumetric weight converts occupied volume into a weight-equivalent. ShipmentPrep requires the divisor explicitly and uses unrounded canonical volume.

| Carton | 500 × 400 × 300 mm; quantity 10 |
|---|---|
| Example divisor | 5000 cm³/kg—not a default rule |
| Estimated volumetric mass | 120 kg |
The result is an estimated volumetric mass for the divisor supplied. It does not predict a carrier invoice.
Check the divisor and any carrier-specific measurement or rounding rules for the service you intend to use.
